According to Insider Higher Ed, the overall attrition rate for the EdTech industry is 13.2%. The turnover rate in e-learning companies is 11.6%. However, the average turnover rate at Game-based learning companies is 15.5%, which is a lot higher than the other EdTech subsectors.

Employees leave companies for a variety of reasons. Some want more flexibility in where they work, whereas others are experiencing burnout. Regardless of the reason, employee turnover is costly and disruptive.

The goal isn’t to achieve a 0% employee turnover rate, as some turnover is beneficial (i.e., making sure you bring in fresh talent to help improve the business).
